emotion in web design

This article discusses Don Norman’s work in emotion design. Very interesting read. Combine this with the work of Matthew May and you may have the beginning of an interesting paper.

Building emotion into your websites

Matthew May

Theater and Global Change

Really happy to be working with UMD’s very own Dean of Fine Arts, Bill Payne, on his video series Theater and Global Change. These short videos are a supplement to his online course Theater and Global Change on the New York Times Learning Management system Epsilen. Here is a link to his profile at the site.

And the Introduction Video

Should have bought the domain “mybrokenwebsite.pu”

Would have more appropriate for what is now up on these here interwebs. Someday maybe I’ll actually have time to fix it.

Interesting site I just found. Haven’t spent much time with it but it looks like a promising source of information.

Gerstner grid tutorial

The Grid

I thoroughly enjoyed this tutorial and creating my own complex grid. I did, however, make the mistake of not changing my paper size from A4 to 8.5 x 11 and all of  my measurements were a little off. This is a good introduction to the complex grid but I will be looking for further information about its use as Gerstner himself said, “this grid requires considerable study, and a designer would have to spend a great deal of time working with it before he could make free use of it in a creative sense.”
